Katherine Ewing

Katherine Ewing is a lawyer at Spark Justice Law LLC.

 

Katherine graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in May 2026 in the top 10% of her class, earning her induction into the Order of the Coif, a national honor society recognizing academic excellence in legal studies.  She was also named Outstanding Student Attorney of the Year for her dedication to civil rights advocacy throughout law school.

 

That advocacy took shape most directly through two years in the University of Denver's Civil Rights Clinic.  There, Katherine represented an incarcerated client with an intellectual disability in complex, multi-jurisdictional civil litigation and post-conviction proceedings.  Her work in the Civil Rights Clinic included challenging her client's placement in solitary confinement, fighting for disability accommodations, and litigating sentence reduction and compassionate release motions and related appeals.  Katherine rounded out her legal training as a summer law clerk for the Honorable Kathryn A. Starnella of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and as an intern at a civil rights and criminal defense firm.

 

Katherine's interest in the law traces back to her work in community organizing before law school.  That experience gave her a firsthand perspective on how systemic injustice plays out and solidified her passion for holding those in power accountable for exploiting and discriminating against disenfranchised individuals and communities.  Katherine earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, where she studied political science, Middle East studies, and Arabic.
